Chapter 9

“Yup that’s her. Well I’ll be damn. What the hell is she doing with him?” Richie asked.

“The question is how did you Mitch miss the two of them in this video?” Karen asked him.

They all just looked at him as he sat there not knowing what to say. “Hey look I was looking at the waitress’s and bartenders trying to put things in your drinks not to look for them. I saw Dotty I thought she was with you guys. I didn’t think anything of her being there. I mean she has shown up at concerts before right?” Mitch asked Jon.

Pulling his hands thru his hair Jon couldn’t disagree with that. “Yeah but you could have at least told us she was there or anyone from our circle that would have still helped.”

“You still see your ex’s even if you’re not together. That’s just creepy.” Karen told him as she had the shivers.

Jon shot her the stink eye as he was still pissed at her for leaving him last night. Karen was getting to her wits end with him. “What’s so damn creepy about it? She comes to the shows around home.” He told them annoyed.

“Do you still sleep with her?” Karen let it slip out as Sarah elbowed her real good this time in her ribs. “Owe! Why the hell did you do that for?” she said but then she saw Jon’s face. “Ohhh…”

“Jon that’s none of our business now is it Karen!” she said as she looked at her best friend and wanting to strangle her.

“Ok, ok let’s get back to the fact that these two were at the bar alright? We need to know why they were together and if they had anything to do with us not remembering anything after that.” Richie said now getting really pissed that Dorothea was in the picture.

“Richie is right why were they together because they seem awful cozy don’t they? How long have they been seeing each other that’s what I want to know?” Jon wanted to know angrily.

“Well from what I know they have been seeing each other now for over six months. None of your Jersey friends told you any of this Jon?” Karen asked him questionably.

“No not even my parents seemed to know why?” he asked her annoyed.

“Well apparently they kept it under wraps then I wonder why? Maybe because they didn’t want anyone to know they were seeing each other. So why then are they giving the two of you The Twilight Zone treatment?” Karen asked. “What the hell did you do to each other’s significant others?”

“Well why don’t we find the hell out!” Jon said loudly as he went for the phone as Mitch stopped him. “What the Hell!” Jon yelled.

“Jon you call Dorothea and she’ll just deny everything and you’ll also let them know that we’re on to them. No we have to do this the smart way and not the angry way.” Mitch stressed to him.

“Well if she is behind this I just can’t believe that she would do something like this to me.” He said a little shocked.

Sarah just stood there and knew that maybe Jon still had some unresolved issue with his ex. She tapped Karen’s shoulder and motioned with her head a little nod towards the door that she wanted to leave. Karen shooked her head and they started to back out of the room. With everyone arguing they didn’t even notice that they left.

“Hey are you ok Sar?” Karen asked her concerned.

“Yeah I just needed to get out of there you know. Watching that tape and seeing Kyle and that woman it’ just bothered me more than I thought.” She told her as they headed towards the elevator. Karen knew that there had to be a little more to it but she wasn’t going to push her. They headed to their room.

“Sar why don’t you go take a nap you look really drained ok?” Karen told her.

“Yes Mother. Thanks I will, let me know if something important comes up ok?” she said as she headed towards her bedroom.

Karen felt bad for knowing how she felt for Jon and maybe she was wrong about how Jon felt about her. Maybe he was just another Rocker who liked to just fuck them and leave them. Well she made a promise to herself that neither of them were going to do that to either of them. They were going to find out what happened then go home and forget this ever happen and that they ever met them.

Back in Jon’s room they were still arguing over what they were going to do next when Richie finally noticed that the girls were no longer there. “Hey where did the girls go?”

Jon started to look around the room scratching his head when Mitch told them. “I don’t believe you guys. They left and I can’t believe you two didn’t see them leave. I don’t think Sarah could take it anymore seeing her ex with your ex you know. She’s been lied to from the very beginning and I think seeing the two of them together really hit home. So I think Karen took her back to their room. Look I’m going to leave I have somethings to follow up on so I’ll give you guys a call later?” Mitch told them as he left them with a duplicate video.

Richie just stood there and was staring at Jon as he turned around from the door and saw him staring at him like there was something on him. “What? Are my balls hanging out or something?” Jon asked him rudely.

“Oh good thing the girls aren’t here Jon. No what’s up your ass?” Richie asked him pissy.

“Didn’t you just see the tape with me? That’s what’s up my ass King. Dot’s been fucking with me since this whole thing started.” He said angrily.

“Really? Well you sure as hell didn’t seem it when you first saw it. You wanted to know why she would do such a thing to you. You couldn’t believe she would do such a thing? Why is that Jon because you two had a very bad breakup if I and the guys remember? She stalked the hell out of you. I mean some of the things that she did…” Richie was starting to say but Jon interrupted him.

“Yeah I remember Rich I was there you know. I just don’t want to bring all that crap up again ok. It was both my and Dotty’s fault of why we broke up. And yes she didn’t take it very well. But then I fixed everything and set her up in a great home and paid all her bills. She said she was fine with it.” He reflected back.

“Jon nothing was sighed so what would it take for her to start things up again.” Richie asked him.

“Because she promised me Rich.” He told him as he stared him straight in the eyes.

“Yeah right. Well did you see the girl’s faces when we were talking about her? Did you see Sarah’s face? It looked like she got hit right in the stomach. Sarah doesn’t give two shits about me Jon. She’s crazy about you. Why? Who the hell knows why but she is and she’s too shy to tell you and now that you have expressed something for Dot she’ll never tell you. I saw that Karen came back to the room last night is that why you’re having a little temper tantrum? Because she didn’t fall at your feet. She knows that Sarah is nuts about you. And she won’t do anything to hurt her. But she’ll skin you alive if you do. So if she comes after you well we talked and you are so on your own. You need to make up your mind and don’t hurt her ok? Because I don’t know how to put cocks back on or the time to get you to the hospital and it to them because either way Karen will get you in your sleep.” He told his best friend chuckling all the way out the door.

Karen was watching t.v. but wasn’t really seeing it. Her mind was reeling from what she saw earlier and wanted to know why Kyle and Dorothea wanted Sarah and Jon thinking that they were married. What would that accomplish? It would have made more sense to her if Kyle had married Sarah to get his hands of Sarah’s money than messing up her head with Jon. Oh this was giving her a headache. But she did know one thing and that was no one was going to hurt her best friend not if she could help it. As she was thinking finally the news broadcast came on and she saw Jon and Sarah come across the screen so she turned up the volume. It was the broadcast of them telling that Jon and Sarah weren’t married and how it was all a drunken night and they forgot to file the paperwork. The reporter even made a joke about how you could hear the young girls screaming Hooray. But Karen wasn’t the only one that saw the broadcast. So did Dorothea.

She wasn’t very happy with the fact that they found out about this so fast before she could get her share of Jon’s fortune. Maybe she should had gone thru with her first plan and actually had him wake up with her in his bed instead of her. That damn Kyle talked her into this instead. She knew it was going to go south with his plan. Now she was going to have to go with her Plan B. She picked up the phone and called Kyle to turn on the t.v. to see that their plan had turned sour. She was yelling at him that he should have pounced on her sooner to get what he wanted from her than waiting to see if she was going to leave him so he could get his mitts into her without Jon being with her. Well Kyle blamed Karen for that and told Dot that it was probably her fault because she always sticks her nose into everything and convinced Sarah to do what Jon suggested.

“Well look I’m going to fly out and I’ll meet you at your apartment and then we’ll discuss what our next move is but I do know that they’re going to be there for the next two weeks so you better get this right.” She told him angrily.

“Look I’ll do my part you just make sure you do your’s and keep that long hair androgynous weirdo away from me got it.” he told her seriously.

“Oh please you just wish you were half the man that he is.” As Dot laughed at him over the phone.

Well Kyle didn’t take that very well, “You Bitch! You didn’t seem to complain at the time.” He spat back out to her.

“Well you do know how we woman are and how we fake it. Just do your job and you will get handsomely paid. I’ll see you sometime tomorrow.” She told him and hung up.   

Kyle wasn’t happy one bit. But he would play her game for now.

Jon had finished showering and had ordered his breakfast when Richie knocked on his door. He let him in and was walking back to the couch when there was another knock and Richie told Jon he got it. It was room service. They set it up as Richie was picking at Jon’s food when he got up.

“You like?” Jon asked him grunting.

“Yeah it’s ok why?” Rich asked snickering.

“Jerk.”

Jon sat down and poured himself a cup of coffee when Richie asked him, “So have you watched the t.v. yet this morning?”

Taking a bite out of his toast and chewing and between bites he told Richie, “No why?”

“Because they had the news of you and Sarah and everything about your marriage.” he told him when he sat up.

“Really? So what do you think it went over ok? Have the girls seen it yet?” he asked him.

“Have no idea came here first. Do you want to go see them after you eat?” Rich asked him.

“Yeah sounds good. I’m sure they’ll be happy that it’s out in the open but now we’ll need to keep an eye on Sarah even more now because I have a feeling that rat bastard will try and get in touch with her.” He told his best friend. 

“Yeah that’s what I was thinking too. Do you think we should put security guards on her or what?” Richie asked him curious.

“We should ask Mitch that because if we tell her she might balk, if he tells her that she has too.” Jon told him.

Jon finished his breakfast as Richie helped and then they went to the girl’s room. They knocked on the door and they waited for a couple of minutes.

“Where the hell are they? They’re not supposed to go out without letting us know.” Jon said irritated.

Finally they could hear something behind the door and locks could be heard unlocking and finally the door opened. There stood Karen in only a towel as her hair was dripping wet as she was trying to towel dry it.

“Oh it’s you guys well come in.” she told them as their eyes nearly feel out of their sockets. “Sarah’s in the shower right now, I was in the bedroom when I heard you guys at the door. She thought it was the room service people so she yelled at me to get it.” She told them smiling.

“So I guess you don’t have to give them a tip then if you answer the door dressed like that right?” Richie asked her trying not to drool all over her.

“Huh? Oh very funny. You both can put your eyes back in your heads but I really don’t know why you’re looking at me like that. I see the type of girls you like and we’re not like that.” She told them as she started off for her bedroom.

“Well yeah we figured as much when the two of you were drunk and we could have taken advantage you guys anytime we wanted to.” Jon told her.

She stopped in her tracks and turned around as Richie winced.

“What?”

“You heard me.” He told her grinning.

Pulling up her towel she walked backed out to the living room as he stood there just grinning like The Cheshire Cat. “You could have taken advantage of us? What stopped you?” she asked him as she walked closer to him as Richie thought it was a good idea to get in-between the two of them.

“Now, now, now you two Karen why don’t you go get dressed and we can finish this when you get back.” He told her as he turned her around and pushed her towards her bedroom.

“Fine!” she said as she stormed off.

“Do you have to antagonize her Jon?” Richie asked him.

“Yes why?” he said back to him smiling.

“She is going to kill you and there won’t be a jury that will convict her.” Rich said back to him shaking his head.

Jon was just laughing when Sarah came out dressed and confused at why Karen was mumbling to herself. “Oh Hi guys. Now I know why Karen’s in her room mumbling to herself.” She told them.

“She’s what?” Jon asked curious.

“You know damn well. She’s in there mumbling to herself. I was wondering what was wrong and was going to ask her but when I came out here to see if room service came but instead saw you two I put two and two together. Nice going guys.” She told then really annoyed now.

“Well that was all Jon Sarah.” Richie told her sitting next to her on the couch.

“Snitch. Hey she’s the one that answered the door in a towel.” Jon said smiling.

“Oh well now I get it. I have two little piggies in my company.” She started laughing.

“Yeah It’s not our fault God made us the way we are.” Jon told her grinning.

 “Why do I have a feeling there’s more to this.” She asked them.

Coming from the door frame, “Because there’s always more to it. Don't worry about it Sar They’re just lucky I have brothers. So what do you two want anyway?” Karen asked them.

“Well we came over to ask if you saw the news about you two and how you two are no longer married.” Richie asked them.

“No did they finally put it on?” Sarah asked.

“Yeah it was on this morning so now everyone will know so it’s just a matter of time that whoever did this will know too. We’re going to ask Mitch to get you two body guards especially now so they can trail you wherever you go just in case they try and make contact with you Sarah.” Richie told her as he moved a little from her.

“No way! We can take care of ourselves! Besides Kyle won’t even approach us if he see’s anyone guarding us now will he?” Karen told them pissed.

“That’s the point knuckle head! You see and I’ll try to explain this in lameman terms for you, it’s so you two won’t get hurt from the bad guys. Got it?” Jon told her condescending.

Well that had done it for her and she lunged at Jon as Richie had caught her. “Put Me Down Now! Just give Me One Minute With Him!” Karen screamed as Jon just stood there all cocky.

“OK! That’s It! Knock It Off Right NOW!” Sarah screamed at them. Looking at Richie, “Richie would you please get her out of here as I talk with Jon.”

“Sure no Problem.” So he put her over his shoulder as she kept on yelling.

“Oh you’ve got to be kidding me! Richard you put me down this instant!” But nobody was listening to her.

After they left Jon looked at Sarah when room service arrived. He took care of it and set it up for her as she just stared at him not knowing if she should scream at him or not.

“Sarah would you like coffee?” as he offered her a cup.

“Is that all you have to say for yourself Jon?” she asked him as she took the cup.

“What? Can I help it if she’s high strung?” he told her as he poured himself a cup.

“Jon! She is not high strung. She just cares for the people she loves is that a crime?” Sarah spat at him.

“No it’s not but she’s attacking me for wanting to protect the two of you. How is that a crime?” He wanted to know.

“Jon that’s the point it’s not. When you care for someone you want to protect them. When your annoyed with them…(that’s when Sarah put two and two together) Oh my God you like Karen don’t you?” she said to him. “Now I get it. That’s why you’re making her nuts. You’re like the ten year old in the school yard pulling her pigtails.” She told him smiling.

Jon just stood like he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar now. So he had to play this off. “What are you crazy? She’s annoying as hell Sarah. Besides you two are driving me and Richie nuts.” He said as he didn’t mean to let that slip out. “Shit!”

Sarah just looked at him curious then asked him what the hell that meant. “Excuse me Jon? Do you want to be more pacific?”

“No look I just want to get the people that fuck us over ok? This isn’t a dating service. So I’m going to set you two up with security until this is over got it?” He told her as she didn’t have a say in the matter.

“Fine we’ll take the security Jon but you better smarten up fast because this attitude that you have well one day someone is going to call you on it.” Sarah told him.

“What the hell do you mean by that? Because Karen told me that that you had a thing for me.” He told her as he sauntered over to her and taking her hand in his. Sarah stood there at first holding his then looking up at him as he was smiling at her rubbing the back of her hand.

“Well we were drunk when I might have said something to her and she may have taken it out of context. I told her what happened between us the other day when we were well kissing and we might have felt something for each other but I don’t think it was love Jon. Like maybe? Friendship definitely. Loneness definitely. But not love. Then when we saw you looking at your ex I thought both myself and Karen felt something a twinge when we saw your reaction to her and Kyle. And then you getting upset even more well…we had to leave we both felt weird. So you wonder why she got upset with you when you go at her like that.” She explained to him.

He had to show her that she was wrong so he took her face in his other hand and lend down and started to kiss her slow as his other hand which was holding her hand moved to her back as he started to turn the kiss more passionate.
