Chapter 10

Richie had taken Karen out and decided to take her to get something to eat. So he took her to the restaurant down in the hotel. Karen was still spitting fire but at least she had calm down some. Richie had gotten them a table in the back so they could talk in private. He ordered some food and coffee and once it got there that’s when he asked her the serious questions.

“Ok feeling better?”

“No but I won’t bite your head off if that’s what you want to know.” She told him as she sipped her coffee.

“Maybe I should have ordered you tea instead.” He smiled.

“Wouldn’t have mattered. That friend of yours will still be a pain in my ass.” She told him.

“Well to be honest he’s a pain in all of our asses. But I still can’t believe you lunged at him that was awesome.” Richie told her.

“Then why did you grab me I could have done some serious damage.” She said seriously.

“Because one) he’s our lead singer and two) he’s the owner of the name of our band, Bon Jovi. Get it? So if you kill him we have to start all over again.” Richie explained to her as he chuckled.

Smiling at that, “Oh ok I get it so no killing the lead singer got it. But he hurt my girl and I can’t let that go.” She told him.

“Really you sure he hurt her and not you?” Richie asked her.

“What the hell are you talking about Sambora? Sarah is the one that likes him I’m just a fan of you guys. I’m the one that turned her on to you. You saw her face when he was looking at the t.v. and saw her and Kyle. I thought Jon was going to jump through there or something to try and save her from him. Dumbass.” She said as she was playing with her coffee and not noticing that Richie was staring at her.

“Well they did have a long relationship. Most of high school and she was with him thru all this well rock crap. At first she didn’t seem like she cared that we were going thru the hard times because she came with us. Then when she got a job it bothered her when we started to hit Europe and stuff. He was never around and then the rumors were starting to get back to her and she was just freaking out on him. And he was good in the beginning he really was but then it got back to him that she was cheating on him so he figured what the hell if she’s doing well you know the hell with it. So he started doing it to.” He told her as a look of surprised was on her face.

“But what if she wasn’t just like he wasn’t didn’t they talk to each other?” Karen wanted to know.

“Oh yeah they did and his brother got a picture of her making out with someone that’s how he knew. Jersey isn’t that big Karen, especially where we come from.” He told her smiling slightly.

“So why does he still give a shit about her?” she wanted to know.

“Because she was his real first girlfriend that cared for him when he needed someone. She didn’t care at first but also I don’t think she really believe this was going to go anywhere either. Then Doc came along and things just took off and I don’t think she really thought that would happen. She almost had him talked out of this until Doc saw us. He booked us on this European tour with a bunch of other groups and we just took off over there and it changed his mind. She was pissed and when we came home and he told her that we were going to keep going they tried for a few more months and finally they broke things off. But she wouldn’t let things go that easily and stalked him and ruined a few of his dates so to speak and kept showing up at concerts. In hotel rooms it wasn’t good. He had to pay her off basically set her up so she’d shut up and stay out of his life but now as I see it he didn’t get anything in writing so she’s starting up again.” Richie explained to her.

Karen sat there listening to him and just could not believe what she was hearing. “How can she do this to him if she ever loved him I don’t get it?” she told him amazed.

“Yeah that’s what I can’t understand either but what gets me is that he’s acting like it doesn’t bother him.” Richie said sadly.

“Well I guess I should apologize to him huh?” Karen said to Richie.

“Well that’s up too you but I think you really have to figure out our emotions first for him.” Richie told her.

“Well if I have to do that then you have to do that for Sarah then because I can see how you look at her Richie. I mean I’m not the only one lying to myself am I?” she told him.

Sarah stood there as the kiss was getting really serious now and Jon had put both his arms around her waist. She wasn’t sure what to do. She really liked kissing him but she really wasn’t ready for another relationship right now especially where her best friend had feelings for him and she really didn’t know where she stood as she was getting mixed signals. Finally she got a clearer head and pushed him off of her.

“Jon I’m sorry but I can’t.” she told him as he stood there really confused now.

“What? I have to sit down. You know you two are driving me crazy. I don’t mean to be crass but I’m really getting a bad case a blue balls here.” He told her holding his head in his hands.

Sarah just looked at him in shock. “You’re what? Jon I’m sorry but I never said I was going to sleep with you and neither did Karen. So what the Hell?” she asked him a little shocked that he would say that to her.

 “I’m sorry Sarah but you gave me the idea that you really liked me the other day when we were making out then you told me that Karen like me and when I asked you that she went flippy on me so she told me that no you had a thing for me so now I’m getting a headache here.” He told here as he again put his head in his hands.

Walking over to Jon and sitting next to him she didn’t know is she should touch him or not so she didn’t she just sat there wringing her hands. “I’m sorry Jon this whole thing that’s been going on has me rattled I guess and I thought well I don’t know what I thought. But with everything going on I really don’t know if I want to get involved with anyone right now.” She told him confused.

“Well don’t tell Richie that then because he has a big crush on you then. Which I can understand because you’re a sweetheart. It’s easy to fall for you Sarah.” He told her grinning.

“Well thank you but I sure don’t feel the way you guys perceive me. I just want this whole nightmare too end and go home.” She told him with tears in her eyes.

“Yeah I get that I really do. I wasn’t too thrilled to see Dot with your ex either. I thought at one point she really cared for me and that whole debacle that she caused was over but she’s still bitter about it. Funny she was the one that really ended it because I really tried to be a good boyfriend to her but she wanted everything and I just couldn’t give her everything that she wanted or needed which was me.” He told her feeling guilty.

“Jon do you think that was your fault that she cheated on you because you have to know it wasn’t your fault.” She told him now a little angry at Dorothea for making him feel this way.

Jon looked at her and smiled. “I did when it happened but now I don’t. But watching that video it did bring up some feelings but trust me it won’t last long. She just has this way of pissing you off real fast.” He explained to her.

“Yeah well Kyle is getting like that now too and if Karen had it her way she’d skin him alive.” she laughed.

“Well Richie keeps telling me that if I keep pissing her off or hurt you she’s going to do that to me too or worse.” He winced at her.

“I really don’t think so especially if you get her in the right mood Jon. Hey why don’t you invite her over to your room for an early dinner and see what happens just don’t piss her off.” Sarah told him giggling.

“Are you trying to play matchmaker?” Jon asked her questionably smiling.

“Who me? Nah. But I think you guys would be a cute a couple and she really is a wonderful girl Jon you just need to get to know her.” Sarah told him honestly.

Still smiling, “Well if it came from anyone else I would have second thoughts. But I am attracted to her there’s just something about her and I can’t get her out of my mind.” He told her as he raked his hands threw his hair.

“You know you do that when you seem stressed.” She told him.

“I do what?” he wanted to know.

“Run your hands through your hair.” she told him chuckling.

“Yeah I guess I do that a lot huh?”

“Look this will work out Jon I promise.” She told him as she gave him a squeeze on his arm.

                The rest of the day each of the couples just stayed with at each other Jon with Richie and Sarah with Karen. Jon and Richie were trying to figure out their next move on what to do next as the girls were getting cabin fever. Jon told Richie what Sarah told him and he thought that was an excellent idea and he was egging him on to call her.

“Will you knock it off. Karen’s pissed at me she’ll never say yes Rich.” Jon told him scared.

“Oh I just think she might Kidd.” Richie told him smiling as he took a sip of his beer.

“Yeah what makes you think that smartass?” Jon shot back at him.

“Ah because she told me shit head.” Richie shot back at him.

“When?” he wanted to know.

“When I took her downstairs earlier remember when she lunged at you?” Richie tried reminding him.

“That’s when she told you?”

“Well Jon Sarah told us even before she got here that she like you and I know you I saw you working her so what’s with the innocent act?” Richie wanted to know.

“What are you talking about?” he asked as he was fiddling with his guitar.

“Don't give me that. When you were upstairs with me the other night and they were drunk. Then earlier when you were flirting with her and getting her pissed at you. Why the hell do you think she went at you because she wanted you right then and there?” Richie started to laugh at him as Jon threw a pillow at him. “Hey!”

“Knock it off will ya. We have bigger thing to worry about here.” He told him.

“Yeah I know but you are allowed to relax between them Jon have a little fun? It’s not against the law you know. So get off your ass and call her. We’re not going to be able to do anything anyway til Mitch gets back to us.” He told him smiling.

“Oh I hate you sometimes you know that?” He told him.

“Yeah I know.” Richie said as he took a swig of his beer.

Jon picked up the phone and dialed the girl’s room. On the second ring Sarah picked up. “Hello? Oh Hi Jon yeah she’s right here just a sec. (looking at Karen) it’s for you it’s Jon.” she told her.

“For me? What the hell does he want?” she asked her best friend.

“Well for one you. He wants to talk to you so here take it.” She told her and tried to shove the phone in her hand.

“What do I say?” Karen wanted to know.

“Well for one start with Hello?” Sarah said smart assy.

Karen gave her a dirty look. She took the phone and did say hello into it but cautiously. “Hello Jon?”

“Yeah Karen Hi. I was wondering if you weren’t doing anything say for a late dinner tonight? I thought we could talk.” He told her as his voice sounded as apologetic as he could.

“Really? Sure I guess what time?” she asked him a little unsure.

“Say about seven?” he said so he could get himself cleaned up.

“Great that’s sounds great I’ll be there.” She told him a little nervously as she had no idea what he wanted from her.

“All right see you then.” And he hung up. “Ok she’ll be here. I have no idea what to order thou.” He said.

“Look I’ll do that you just get ready for the date and do me a favor don’t fuck this up.” He told him as Jon gave him the jersey salute as he headed towards the bathroom for his shower.

Karen hung up the phone and just stared at it for a minute when Sarah tapped her on the shoulder. “Huh? Oh what?” she asked her.

“What was that about?”

“Oh Jon asked me to dinner he wants to ask me something I guess?” she told her.

“Oh my God Richie thinks this is a date!” she exclaimed.

“What! No way! Why?” Karen wanted to know. “He doesn’t even like me right? I thought he liked you?” Karen asked her.

“Nope Richie is pretty sure he likes you. That’s why he’s doing all those stupid little boy things to irritate you.” She told her.

“No, no way Richie didn’t say anything about him liking me. He just said to get my emotions in check that’s all. (thinking) Oh my God is this why he’s asking me to dinner as a date?” she asked Sarah.

“Pretty sure.”

“Oh God I’m going to be sick.” She said as she sat down in the closest chair.

“Why all this time you have been yelling at him and now you’re nervous? You’ve got to be kidding me?” she asked her amazed.

“Don't make fun of me. This is serious he is a good looking guy so stop it.” She told her shaking.

“Oh Lord! Look go take a quick shower and I’ll lay out some dresses for you to pick from ok? You look beautiful I promise. And just be yourself that’s who he fell for in the first place” Sarah told her as they headed towards the bedrooms.
